Welcome to dcauk.co, home of David Couttie Associates (DCA). We are a housing, planning and regeneration consultancy with particular expertise in both private sector and social and affordable housing markets. Through our senior personnel and Associates, DCA have a long track record in District and Sub-Regional Housing Assessments. The DCA team have extensive practical experience and intimate knowledge of housing, planning, regeneration, local government and economic development issues. DCA provide specialist support for the development of future housing and planning policies and delivery initiatives. DCA have specialist expertise in housing and the planning system, in public / private sector partnerships and housing strategies to address the needs of all sectors of the market.

Our proven track record has been attained through 19 years experience, with over 300 research studies completed and more than 190 local authority clients across the UK. We were involved in the CLG Good Practice Guidance research on local housing needs assessment in 2000 and the 2007 Strategic Housing Market Assessment Practice Guide.

What will the information I provide be used for?

Data is gathered in DCA surveys for social research purposes. Most of our surveys are designed to study the housing / accommodation needs of particular groups. The information you provide will not be used to identify you or your household.

DCA comply fully with the eight data protection principles of good information handling which Data Controllers are required to follow when handling personal data. The eight principles are that personal data:-

  • Shall be processed fairly and lawfully.
  • Shall be obtained only for one or more specified and lawful purposes, and shall not be further processed in any manner incompatible with that purpose or those purposes.
  • Shall be adequate, relevant and not excessive in relation to the purpose or purposes for which they are processed”.
  • Shall be accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date.
  • Processed for any purpose or purposes shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for that purpose or those purposes.
  • Personal data shall be processed in accordance with the rights of data subjects under this Act.
  • Appropriate technical and organisational measures shall be taken against unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, personal data.
  • Personal data shall not be transferred to a country or territory outside the European Economic Area, unless that country or territory ensures an adequate level of protection of the rights and freedoms of data subjects in relation to the processing of personal data.
